FREQUENCY, DURATION, NUMBER AND CONTENT OF SESSIONS
Sessions usually take place on a weekly basis and last for approximately fifty minutes to one hour. You are in control of the number of sessions that you require. You may decide in advance that you require a fixed number of sessions or that you want to leave things open-ended. Whatever you choose we review progress as we go along so that you feel free to make informed decisions about the number of sessions you want. I offer face-to-face sessions or sessions via telephone or Skype.
During your first session you have an opportunity to decide if you feel comfortable with me and I can assess whether I am able to offer you what you may need - I can help you find an alternative therapist if we decide not to proceed together, for whatever reason. Getting to know each other is an important part of working together, it is important that you feel comfortable with me and that I understand what you require from sessions.
In subsequent sessions we will explore whatever issues you are bringing. Generally part of each session will be spent in discussion and part may be used for techniques such as CBT exercises, hypnosis, EFT or dreamwork. I may ask you to do things between sessions such as keeping a journal to record your thoughts and concerns or recording memorable dreams that arise between sessions. Sometimes you may be asked to try out things we have discussed or practiced in session in the "real world" and bring back observations about how things worked or didn't work for you.
